Edward Newgate, most famously known as Whitebeard, is a prominent character in the One Piece animated series. He first appears in Episode 151.

Whitebeard is renowned as one of the strongest pirates in the world, holding the title of "The Strongest Man in the World." He commands the Whitebeard Pirates, a formidable crew composed of powerful and diverse individuals whom he considers his "sons." His weapon of choice is a bisento, a large polearm-like blade, which he wields with devastating force, often augmented by his Devil Fruit power.

Newgate possesses the Tremor-Tremor Fruit (Gura Gura no Mi), a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that grants him the ability to create powerful vibrations, allowing him to generate earthquakes. This ability makes him a significant threat in battles, capable of destroying islands and generating massive tidal waves.

Whitebeard's primary goal is to create a family and protect his crew. He values loyalty and sees his crewmates as his children, fostering a strong bond of camaraderie and mutual respect.
